We stayed at the newer hotel and it was great. So many pools and so much for my three year old to do. He really enjoyed the water slides. We went to the sister hotel across the street for breakfast because they had more seating room. The apartment had everything we needed to make lunch and if we wanted dinner. Lots of places to choose from for dinner near by if you don’t get dinner included.

We visited from Malaga, Spain. We are a family of 4, with two very young kids. They absolutely loved it, and we loved it for this very same reason. Animation team was incredible and we will come back. In general really fantastic facilities. Rooms should get updated with new fresh looking furniture, but it works well and its clean. Food in the pool bar needs an update and could be much better. Then they would also be more busy i think. But all in all very happy with everything.

Overall, a great family hotel with good value for money. The room was very comfortable and spacious, although the bathroom needed a serious renovation. There is a nice variety of pools, and the facilities don't feel crowded even in high season. There were nice shows for the children almost every evening.
The food in the Oliveira restaurant was of very poor quality and taste. The Palm restaurant was much better. The pool's water temperature is very cool, even when it was 30 degrees outside. Pillows were too puffy

Excellent choice for families, The overall area is very well kept and staff are very friendly and helpful. All the pools in the hotel area are very nice and clean. The hotel itself needs a bit of tlc but overall still a beautiful location. Kids entertainment is spot on and my daughter loved every minute. You will appreciate the hotels grounds a lot more when you travel just 4 minutes down the road and notice the general area is a bit run down with a lot of shops sell all the same items as the last. Local shops are very over priced but if you go for a 2 minute walk down the road from the hotel there is a Spar which sells everything you will need to save a bit of cash if you're on a budget. Definitely would recommend as a first time visit to Portugal.

We stayed at Alfagar Prestige in May as a family of four (two adults and two children). The entire Alfagar complex is quite large and includes several hotels and the Village with villas, multiple pools, and a few restaurants.
Alfagar Prestige seems to be the newest hotel in the complex (at the time of writing, it doesn’t even have its own dedicated Google Maps location yet). The rooms and lobby are decorated in a modern style. Right at the entrance of this section there is a heated pool with a retractable dome, which makes it perfect even in cooler months. Behind it there’s another pool, and just beyond that we found what we think is the best restaurant in the whole complex. Don’t be misled by the name suggesting a cafeteria – it’s a proper restaurant with a fantastic menu, from seafood to game, all prepared in a true Portuguese style without unnecessary international twists. The open glass kitchen and the professional staff made the experience even better. Outside, there’s a beautifully designed terrace with a shallow infinity pool that opens up towards the cliffs and the ocean – simply stunning.
During our stay we explored the whole resort:
• Alfagar Village with direct access to the beach. In the evenings, the Buganvilla Restaurant became our favourite spot – good casual food (pizza, chicken, burgers, fries), a safe and fenced playground right next to it, so kids could play until late while parents enjoyed a relaxed meal.
• Alfagar Alto, where we used the indoor pool.
• Alfagar Aparthotel, where we had breakfasts.
There’s also a small grocery shop in the Village area, which is convenient.
For families, the resort feels safe, as the whole area is gated and monitored. We asked about accessibility for elderly or less mobile people, and the reception confirmed there are electric carts available to help move around the large complex. However, it’s important to note that direct beach access from the resort is only via steep stairs down the dunes, so it might not be suitable for everyone.
Overall, Alfagar left us with wonderful memories. Next time, we plan to stay in the Village section, which had the nicest atmosphere for us. Highly recommended for families!
