Absolutely loved this place. It was a bit dated but the food was quite nice and for our family of 5, it was perfect! Each day they served up something different for dinner (we did the half board option) with generous varieties. We were met by very courteous and friendly waitstaff. There was Jose, who delighted our 2 year old and Ben Hanif, who was just always smiling and kind. They were also very efficient and professional in doing their jobs.
The rooms are from the 80s but very spacious. The bathrooms can be slippery when wet but the apartment had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable and the balcony/ patio was also a very generous size. They have bidets, so that’s also a plus.
The bigger pools with slides were closed due to the season (we were there in December) but I would imagine it’s quite a happening place in the warmer months.
Location was fine, it was close to an Aldi and the town of Albufeira, as well as beaches and about 40 minutes away from Lagos.

We travelled to Aparthotel Alfagar on a holiday booked through Jet2. This was our first family holiday abroad. Nearly all the staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Whilst the facilities were a bit old having access to the rest of the Alfagar complex made up for this. We had the half-board option and found the breakfast and evening buffets had a good range and decent quality. We were a little caught out by the fact that soft drinks were not included for the evening meal. Overall we quite happy to come to Alfagar on our first family holiday and our first trip to Portugal.

We stayed at the newer hotel and it was great. So many pools and so much for my three year old to do. He really enjoyed the water slides. We went to the sister hotel across the street for breakfast because they had more seating room. The apartment had everything we needed to make lunch and if we wanted dinner. Lots of places to choose from for dinner near by if you don’t get dinner included.

A large complex of several hotels, including the Alfagar Aparthotel, Alfagar Prestige, and Alfagar Village. Large apartments with fully functional kitchens. Large rooms, for my taste. Beautiful location, many amenities, friendly staff, and the cleaning staff do a good job. Personally, I'm very pleased. I was surprised by the long lines for breakfast, but I managed to get through it. A word of caution for those with back problems: the mattress in my room was very soft, which can cause back pain, which I also experienced. Just a small note. However, I recommend this place to everyone.

Excellent choice for families, The overall area is very well kept and staff are very friendly and helpful. All the pools in the hotel area are very nice and clean. The hotel itself needs a bit of tlc but overall still a beautiful location. Kids entertainment is spot on and my daughter loved every minute. You will appreciate the hotels grounds a lot more when you travel just 4 minutes down the road and notice the general area is a bit run down with a lot of shops sell all the same items as the last. Local shops are very over priced but if you go for a 2 minute walk down the road from the hotel there is a Spar which sells everything you will need to save a bit of cash if you're on a budget. Definitely would recommend as a first time visit to Portugal.
