I love this place, the staff, location and rooms were just amazing. I booked at the hotel, and thought I was booking here but actually booked at a Hyatt off State street. When I showed up an Monte Mar, they were so kind and accommodating, and I asked them if I could stay here, as that is where I thought I booked and they said yes, and offered to call the other Hyatt and transfer the booking. The manager that went above and beyond was Danielle, and she called and spoke to cancel my stay. Turns out Steve did not even have the room their manager Steve, and he was rude, not helpful and refused to type I ordered but he refused to help Danielle. Danielle was so kind, and offered to still help and make the situation work out for my family and I. I am not a forever Hyatt loyalist, and will always remember her kindness.

I had a great stay at the Monte Mar Palace Hotel, the room is of high quality and very spacious. I particularly wonder how they manage to make the bed linen (embroidered with the hotel logo) so soft. I had a single room (with a view of the mountains) and I wonder how big they can get. The receptionist, Raimundo (who speaks English, French and German!), was really friendly and very helpful, giving me the walking tips I needed (as walking trails were closed due to bad weather) and which secured my next leg. Check-in went smoothly and given that it was still relatively early, it was especially thoughtful of Raimundo to offer me a pool towel with the recommendation to use the pools :) The outdoor pool with sun loungers is beautiful with a paranomic view of the sea. The heated indoor pool with Jacuzzi is spacious. There is also a spa and a lobby area with large comfy sofas and even a mini-golf course, just infront of the pool if you fancy a go. The breakfast buffet is great - with lots of choice. Try coming early to get a spot beside the huge windows for the extra sea view!

The hotel is in a very picturesque location. The staff are friendly, polite and knowledgeable. There was a nice view of the Atlantic from balcony of my room. Food was excellent and the service was first class.

Lovely hotel and beautiful grounds. Swimming pools good and clean. Always a good choice of food. Staff friendly and helpful. .

Pro’s- great views, rooms clean, staff pleasant. Con’s - not much to do in the evenings, miles from anywhere, steep hills, no beach. If you want to go anywhere, you need a car. We hired a taxi for 3 days, the advantage being, the driver took us to all the ‘must see’ places on the Island. Overall a nice place to stay, but a bit out of the way.
