We stayed here for our 35 year wedding anniversary. Our first time at this resort but a frequent visitor of Cancun and Playa for years now. After some not so exciting changes to our resort of choice in Playa we decided to give Excellence Riviera Cancun a try and boy were we pleasantly surprised. Hotel is. 4 Diamond resort , beautiful beach and pool, if your a foodie this place is awesome from Buffet to all the delicious restaurants on the property Our personal favorites Agave (Manager Edgar) was great as well as our waiter Manuel. And the Grill Steakhouse was really awesome our waiter Hector was so great and made sure we were really attended to. Also a HUGE shout out to the team at Olas restaurant on the beach , they were amazing Jose, Miguel, Neri , Juan and Maritza , thanks for making our Anniversary so memorable, we will definitely be back.

Excellence Riviera Cancun is truly its name, excellence in every way!
My cousins, sister and I stayed from September 19–22 and it was the most relaxing, elegant escape. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a warm towel and a glass of welcome champagne (such a thoughtful touch that set the tone for an incredible stay). The service was beyond amazing, every staff member made us feel genuinely cared for. Huge shoutout to some of our favorites: Santos from the pool area, Jose our wonderful server at The Grill, Avid at Basmati, Luis from the Martini Bar, Xochi who kept the pool activities fun, and Francisco from the front desk. Everyone went above and beyond to make our stay special.
The food was incredible and every restaurant was a hit! The Kitchen Table buffet had so many fresh, tasty options, Chez Isabelle was absolutely delicious for dinner, and Lobster House became our go-to for breakfast and lunch. We did wait around 45 minutes for dinner at Spice and The Grill, but it was well worth it! Even the room service was excellent.
The resort itself is beautiful: multiple pools, a lazy river, and a swim-up bar make it easy to unwind anywhere you go. We loved spotting iguanas lounging around and cute coatis wandering the grounds! They also have some fun nightly shows!
The only small downside was the time of year we visited..the sargassum (seaweed) was pretty bad, so the ocean wasn’t its usual crystal blue beauty. But honestly, with how much there is to enjoy on the property, it hardly mattered.
We definitely recommend Excellence Riviera Cancun and we’ll absolutely be back!

Recently returned from an amazing experience at this very excellent resort with my wife and friends (16 nights)
Restaurants: these were mostly all serving food at very high levels and overall were better than we expected. Our favourites were the Mexican themed nights, Agave & Magna and not forgetting the Kitchen Table breakfast buffet..so much choice!
Bars: there’s lots of bars dotted around the resort, our favourite was the Excellence Club Lounge, just exquisite for evening cocktails!
Pools: So many to choose from, but we stuck to the excellence pool close to block 8 as it was the quietest but had some atmosphere and the Cielo bar.
Overall, for us, it was the staff that made us and our stay so very special.
The Pool Concierge team were consistently superb and we have to single out the young talent that is Joel - we were so impressed with his personal qualities that belies his age whilst being so very professional.
When poolside; we were kept hydrated and well ‘watered’ by the most affectionally attentive Moises! We loved his sense of humour!
Amable, also kept us going in the same personable manor when we occasionally used the beach; she’ll willingly keep you well fed and watered all day.
We also wanted to note Jennifer, the supervisor from the Magna restaurant. We only visited the once (the best filet steak I’ve ever had) but she would always approach us to ask how we were right upto the moments of leaving the resort.
Overall, it really was the staff that completed our experience, the genuine attentiveness that they show you landed so well with us, this goes beyond those I’ve mentioned above too as they all, in their own way made our holiday special, so thank you all!
Our only concerns were that the beach was always affected by the seaweed and the sea was brown (not the fault of the resort) so if you’re a lover of crystal clear & turquoise waters, you may need to consider another resort but this did not affect our stay as we took various snorkelling trips, our favourite was the ‘Jungle Tour’ what a lot of fun that was!

We just returned from the most incredible week at Excellence Riviera Maya, and I can’t say enough good things about this resort! Everything from the food to the service to the activities was outstanding — but the people truly made the difference.
Diana from the Fun Team was the absolute highlight of our trip. She’s one of those rare people who instantly makes you feel like family. Every single day she greeted us with a huge smile, remembered our names, and went out of her way to include everyone. Whether it was pool volleyball, bingo, or the cocktail-making class, she brought so much energy and joy that you couldn’t help but have fun. She genuinely cared about everyone having a great time — and because of her, we did!
Angelo on the Fun Team also deserves a big shoutout — he’s hilarious, quick-witted, and so entertaining.
At the Excellence Pool, Matilde (aka Sebastian) was amazing. He somehow knew our names and favorite drinks from day one and treated us like VIPs all week.
The food was incredible everywhere we went, but Chez Isabelle stood out — the French onion soup was sooooo good!
We loved how much there was to do every day — pool volleyball, games, classes — you can be as active or relaxed as you want.
Excellence Riviera Maya truly lives up to its name. The staff makes this place special, and we’re already dreaming about our next visit. If you go, make sure you find Diana — she’ll make your trip unforgettable!

I can’t think of a single bad thing to say about this hotel and the staff. You are made to feel so welcome and treated with such genuine care that I have never experienced from a hotel before. The food was unreal, we didn’t have a single bad meal. Our favourite restaurants were Agave and Magma. The breakfast/lunch buffet had so much choice and the drink options were so varied.
Our room was in block 8 and had an ocean view which was stunning.
Even in a rainy day, the staff were there to keep you entertained if you wanted it, but not pushy if you didn’t
Special mention to Joel from the Excellence pool area who was so lovely and made me feel very special on my birthday.
Also Moses and Mariana for their tireless work on keeping us hydrated.
Everyone works so hard to keep the guests happy and I hope they are appreciated.
