Lovely hotel, reception staff really helpful. The entire hotel is cleaned top to bottom first thing in the morning, so it always smelled and looked great. The food is good, but needs more variety. It was the same food on offer every day, unfortunately. The pool is nice, very shallow, and freezing cold, but you do have to walk out of reception and down the building to get to it. Great clean beach on the doorstep. Children's parks, cafes, bars, and restaurants all close by.

This is one of the nicest places we have been to. The hotel was so clean, rooms were beautiful and the view was outstanding. The pool area was clean and the beach right outside less than 5 minute walk from room to beach! Staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. Food catered for everyone and the local shops, restaurants and town centre were all within a 10 minute walk from hotel. I will definitely be going again 😊

We just spent February midterm at this hotel with our 4 children on half board basis. We had the most wonderful time there. We were a bit put off by the reviews but our experience was amazing. It was perfect for families. Two of us are gluten free and the chef was amazing and always showed us what we could eat at each meal. The rooms were clean and the pool area was amazing with the kids, although the pool isn't heated, it was fabulous. It's right on the beach so we walked along the board walk every day and swam in the sea. We even managed to see the sun rise one morning. Nice playgrounds within 5 minutes. Good WiFi in the room as I had to work from there. Our balcony was a suntrap in the evening so we could sit out and enjoy a glass of wine. It is definitely in need of painting and some upgrading but it's spotless and the staff are friendly and welcoming and even though we arrived late at night, they kept dinner for us. Great value for money and we will definitely return! Thank you for our holiday in Paradise!

The hotel isn't quite 4 star most I'd give is an over generous 3 star. There are lots of negative reviews, but here's the pluses. Food is NOT cold, we arrived late on first night and food was Luke warm but we were the last to enter before closing. The hotel is cleaned daily, and the cleaners are great. Towels are changed when you leave them in the bath, this is quite common across Europe. They won't change towels that you leave on the hooks. There is NO air-conditioning ( we believe it's broken, but translation between Spanish to English didn't make the air con work). Basically, when you arrive, just open balcony doors, and don't put the air con on as it blows hot air at 27 degrees. It's a pretty safe area to have a window open all night on a balcony. That's what we've been doing. The all-inclusive food option is, like many hotels, tiresome if you're here for 7 days or more. They repeat the same foods each day, and many are reused to create salads or pasta dishes. Some foods are to an acquired taste, and some are just not palettable at all. The hotel could really do with themed nights to spice things up a bit & less cakes for breakfast, more apricots, figs, and mandarin orange options. The snacks are just a plastic cup of nuts or a paper bag full of plain crisps. The drinks are great, there is not scrimping on the alcohol and you truly feel that you're being looked after. The rooms are tired, we were in a premium room on the 6th floor, furniture had chips of paint scuffs, voile curtain had a big hole cut in it, its jjust not 4 stars, especially as it was premium. The pool is small for the size of the hotel but right next to the beach. There wasn't any entertainment whilst we were there, but the summer season hadn't started yet, so we were in their winter season. Overall staff work hard and we're mostly friendly, hotel is nicely placed away from the hustle and bustle of both Malaga & Marbella, we hired a car for 5 days from the local town, small corsa €350 and made the most of the local area, even having a day trip to Gibraltar, which was super. The hotel offers car parking at €10 per day but a short 1 minute walk there is plenty of free parking which is visible from the hotel rooms that face West. If you want an all-inclusive holiday just outside of marbella for half the price, then this is your hotel. After all, it is just a base for us, so we've made the most of the andalusia area.

We've just returned from 7 nts at the the Gran Hotel Costa del Sol. 30th March - 6th April 2025. There is nothing to complain about at this hotel. It's very clean, Wonderful food, huge choices, exceptional seafood selection on the Saturday night, fresh prawns, smoked salmon, muscles etc. The staff are lovely and very helpful, full bottle of wine with every meal.Premier Rooms on 6th floor with Seaview and balcony are really lovely, maids come in every day. Hotel is on the beach, plenty of sunbeds available, pool bar has a great selection of drinks, free snacks nuts etc in a plastic cup with drinks, 10 minute walk on left into La Cala Village, beautiful white buildings, selection of bars, restaurants, Unico club on the beach and Los Delfines Beach club are fabulous. Torreon Watch Tower only 2 euros for fantastic views of the whole area. Bus from outside Tourist information office into Fuengirola and Malaga also bus stop under bridge into Marbella and Capobina Beach. The areas are Incredibly clean, no litter or homeless, roads and pavements very well kept. We visited Marbella on the bus only €1.60 per person, Gibraltar day trip is well worth it very interesting. Mijas Pueblo traditional Andalucian white Mountain Village is breathtaking. Wonderful holiday. We paid £300 each for hotel all inclusive, plus Ryan Air flights, 2 suitcases and insurances. Total £1200. Bargain! We will be back ❤️

We stayed at Hotel Ilunion in Mijas in mid-April for 9 days as a family of four. The hotel itself is visually beautiful—reception and common areas are absolutely stunning and give a great first impression. The amenities are excellent, and the overall atmosphere is lovely. However, the rooms feel quite dated in comparison. While our room was spacious and the mattress very comfortable, the bathrooms looked old and gave off a feeling of being unclean, even when they were clean. It feels like the rooms haven’t received the same care as the rest of the hotel. Our experience at check-in was a bit awkward. The receptionist on duty made me feel uncomfortable, as he wouldn’t look me in the eyes and didn’t seem warm or welcoming. Strangely, he appeared much friendlier when speaking to my husband, which left a sour taste. We had to request a room change to better accommodate our family, and fortunately, the new room was much better. From then on, the staff made a huge difference. Oli at the reception was fantastic—kind, warm, and professional. Livia L. was also wonderful, always smiling and genuinely helpful. The rest of the team was equally great throughout our stay. The restaurant staff were especially outstanding, always attentive and friendly. A special thank you to Carmen, who was incredibly sweet and caring every day. I also want to thank Miriam, the cook, for going out of her way to prepare egg- and pork-free chicken dishes for me—twice! That really meant a lot. As for the food itself, it was a bit of a hit-and-miss experience. Some days it was excellent, others not so much—it felt like a bit of a roulette. Still, the service from the waiters made every meal pleasant regardless. Ratings: Location: 9/10 Amenities: 10/10 Staff: 10/10 Rooms: 4/10 Cleanliness: 8/10 Overall Appearance: 9/10 In summary, this hotel has great potential and truly outstanding staff, but the rooms need some love. With a little renovation, it could easily be a top-tier destination. Would I stay again? Possibly—but I’d request an updated room and hope for better consistency in the food.

We stayed as a couple and had a really nice trip the room was beautiful but did have small things wrong like a few ants on the bathroom floor and the tv didn’t work. However the hotel was in a beautiful location with amazing views and 5 minute taxi to the local town of Mijas Pablo - which was stunning. The hotel also had a private swimming pool, sauna and steam which we enjoyed. Overall we had a nice stay and would come back again.

We had a lovely stay for our honeymoon, the staff was made aware and would congratulate us. We were received with a bottle of very nice fizz in our room. Excellent service, very clean and beautiful views. Buffet for breakfast had plenty of options. Would definitely recommend. Not very far.from Fuengirola beach

I had a great stay at Hotel Ilunion in Mijas. Everything was exceptionally clean and well-maintained, creating a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. The staff provided excellent service throughout my stay, always friendly and attentive to any requests. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience, and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a nice, well-kept place to stay in Mijas

Beautiful hotel set into the hillside overlooking the coast and the sea. I would describe it as "old school charm". Tastefully decorated, lovely bar area and salon. The terrace next to the bar is wonderful. Whilst it was too cold to use the pool ( we were there in early February) there were plenty of loungers and one didn't feel cramped. The pool looked lovely. There are lots of terraced where you can sit and read and have a wonderful, view and listen to the many birds. The location is excellent,a short walk to the many bars restaurants and shops. Staff were friendly, helpful and courteous. The room, whilst a little tired, was perfectly comfortable and very clean. We only ate there once ( club sandwich) which was excellent value. I would certainly come back here again.

Room was adequate and was cleaned everyday. Had some issues with the sound of water gushing through the pipes. First few nights it lasted between 1-1 half hours but fifth night it started at 2.30 until 6.50 am. I mentioned to reception and after that we had two quiet nights. It's Room 26 above the Spa so try and avoid that. Other than that no negatives this is a beautiful authentic Spanish hotel. The views are stunning and the location is perfect the town is on your doorstep. Breakfast was good but we didn't have evening meal so can't comment. Bar and restaurant staff were great. Reception staff were great too. Would definitely go back.

The staff are excellent, especially Jose Luis on reception. The building has character & charm & great views. However it needs a masssive refurbishment. The room we stayed in was shabby & an on/off nasty drain smell. We understood from other guests that part of the hotel had no hot water & many guests moved rooms. It’s a shame & we felt sorry for the staff fielding issues from guests.

Read some of the reviews before coming here-when they say the walls are thin... they re paper thin and you can hear everything your neighbours are doing ... coughing, farting, making a brew, talking... everything. Apart from that, the rooms are nice, cleaned daily, comfy beds and a kettle! Food is alright... choice at breakfast is ok but not changed up much so bit tedious by end of the week. Beer is quite expensive. Billiards room in the lobby bar was a great activity to do when the weather wasn't great. Outside- there are lots of loose flags on the patio areas, sun loungers are uncomfortable but plenty to go at so always have somewhere to lay. Pool is freezing so be brave! We were put in a room on the lower floor overlooking the outside terrace - this is where they host biking excursions and they have vans outside your balcony door early in a morning, loading up bikes and people every day with lots of noise which isn't great when you've come away to rest! Spa was closed due to plumbing works on our trip which is a shame so never got to use this facility. We used the gym a couple of times which is a nice addition and a nice sized room with a good selection of equipment. Great location for the village of Mijas, shop across the road, lots of restaurants to choose from and some nice walks to do too. Although after a week, you're limited to what you can do/see as you've seen it all in a couple of days. Not much to do if the weather isn't great! Staff are very friendly and helpful. Overall, some good and bad points but still had a lovely holiday as the atmosphere around the hotel is very calm, quiet and pleasant.

The rooms are clean although need a complete refit. The walls are so thin that you can hear bathroom noises and conversations in the rooms next door. The man next door snored all night for the week he was there. Luckily I had ear plugs but asking your neighbor's to turn their music and tv down was not very nice as they were not playing them loud but the walls are too thin. The beds were comfortable . It was not the best weather while we were there and while the public rooms were warm the bedrooms were not very warm and it's not possible to change the heat settings. The patio doors do not fit very well and opening and closing them proved difficult and the wind whistled through them moving the curtains. The staff in this hotel are fabulous especially Maria in the bar and allways have a smile and are very helpful. The hotel is also in a fabulous position within easy walking of the beautiful shops and fantastic selection of bars and restaurants. I hope they update the bedrooms soon which will make a huge difference to the comfort of the guests. The public areas are very traditionally Spanish which was lovely and the views from the Restaurant and bars are spectacular. The breakfast was not great , plenty of choice but poor quality.
