Visiting from Scotland and We have just stayed here for a week and would come back in a heartbeat. The rooms were spotless, the location is fantastic, right on the beach. The cleaners change your bedding and towels daily (if you want, just put the sign on the door if you want them to or not)
All staff members we have dealt with have been very friendly. You can hire large beach towels from reception (€10 deposit which you get back) you can also change the beach towels daily, which is handy as they get full of sand. They only charge €1 to swap the towel.
The food also has been lovely. Something for everyone.
So many amenities within very very short walking distance - pharmacy, pubs, supermarket, bus stops, ice cream parlours, souvenirs shops, restaurants, tobaccos shop.
Also vending machines in the hotel with snacks, juices, and a medical vending machine.
We’ve had the best time here.
Thank you.

Absolutely appalled by our experience at Grand Hotel Costa del Sol. What should have been a relaxing holiday turned into stress, illness and genuine concerns about food safety.
The first major issue came at dinner when I was served a sausage that was visibly raw inside. We immediately took it to a member of staff, who removed all the remaining sausages from the buffet and had them cut in half and cooked further. We spent part of our holiday feeling unwell.
Shockingly, this was not a one-off incident. At another dinner service, we were served chicken that again appeared raw/undercooked in the middle. We took photos because at this point we simply could not believe it was happening again. After already becoming unwell earlier in the holiday, finding more undercooked meat was genuinely alarming and completely destroyed any confidence we had in eating at the hotel.
To make matters worse, on the day of departure we were initially told our all-inclusive would end at 12pm despite not leaving for the airport until the evening, leaving us with hours at the hotel without food or drinks. It was only after raising our concerns and complaints about the food issues that they finally agreed to let us keep our all-inclusive wristbands until we left.
The location may be lovely, but sadly the experience was overshadowed by poor food standards, lack of communication and handling of guest concerns. Serving meat that appears undercooked not once, but twice, is simply unacceptable. We left feeling disappointed, frustrated and very relieved to be going home. I would not return.

I stayed at Hotel Grans Costa del Sol and overall had a pleasant stay, though there are a few areas where the hotel could improve.
First of all, the reception staff were very friendly and helpful, which made check-in and any questions during the stay easy. One of the bar staff members was especially kind and made us some very nice non-alcoholic drinks, which we really appreciated.
The cleaning staff were also excellent. They cleaned the hotel and rooms every day and were always very polite and hardworking.
In terms of the hotel itself, it felt more like a 3-star hotel than a 4-star, as some areas look a bit old and could use renovation. Our room walls were slightly dirty, so refreshing some rooms would definitely improve the overall experience.
Unfortunately, the pool was closed during our stay, so we couldn’t swim and I cannot comment on the pool facilities.
The food in the restaurant was tasty, but the breakfast was quite similar every day. It would be nice if the hotel added more variety, especially more savory options, since not everyone prefers sweet food in the morning. Also, different meats were sometimes cooked in the same area. It might be better to separate them—for example, placing red meat on one station and chicken or fish on another, since not everyone eats every type of meat.
The hotel also organized singing sessions and entertainment, which we discovered by chance and really enjoyed. It would be even better if guests were informed about these activities in advance.
Overall, I would recommend this hotel for a budget-friendly stay. The sea view is beautiful, and despite a few small issues, we still enjoyed our time here.

I’ve just finished my stay with Gran Hotel, from the moment I stepped it I was welcomed! The hotel is clean and kept to a high standard. The breakfast buffet is well presented and huge variety. The air con was fully working and fresh towels were given throughout my stay. I highly recommend this hotel and will be returning. It is central to everything, the beach is a stone throw away and some beautiful restaurants along the beach. Thank you for a great stay!

location is amazing. if you are looking to just have a place to sleep and be in a great location then this is the place. we walk out and we are basically in the sea it’s great. we’ve had a few small issues with our room such as the heating not working, our shower being too hot or too cold not middle term and our bed lifting. These issues definitely didn’t stop us from having a great time and enjoying the delicious breakfast they offer and their pool. I recommend.

Just got home from a lovely stay at the Illunion Hotel. We were a bit worried before we arrived after reading some bad reviews, but we can honestly say we really enjoyed our stay. The hotel was clean, the beds were comfy, the showers were great, and the views were lovely. It’s a little way out from the main hustle and bustle, but we actually liked how peaceful it was. There are bus stops right outside, and for just €1.60 on the bus, it was easy to get to Mijas or Fuengirola.
The pool area and gym were clean, and the pool towels were nice thick ones, not the thin cheap towels you often get. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially the guy who checked us in on the night shift.
The only downsides for us were the pool only being open from 11am–5pm, and there wasn’t a shop on site, just drinks available from the bar.
Overall, we’d definitely recommend this hotel and would happily stay here again

We booked this hotel partly because we could use the pool at the end of the day. However, it closes before 6 pm, while the hotel website states that it closes at 8 pm. I went to reception to point out the discrepancy. They told me I wasn't the only one to mention it, but that they had never actually opened the pool later and that they had already mentioned having the website corrected. When you're a tourist in a beautiful region, you don't stay at the hotel, but rather explore during the day and return to the hotel at the end of the day.
Very disappointing

I would start with great location which give great impression.Rooms nothing special but higene standard always kept clean by staff. Breakfast not much choice, if you looking for standard eggs bacon beans bread breakfast you on right place. If you looking for more options or not basic quality look for other place. Acces to use hotel pool or sauna have to be paid extra. Going on holidays that is what most of us looking for. Hotel looks fancy and clean and pleasant staff.

Horrible service. Staff are rude, don’t put out more food at breakfast when it’s done, don’t refill empty tea and coffee station for days. Pool opening hours are 11am-5pm which is a very short window - halfway through the trip it turns to 7pm closing, no one had told us. Wouldn’t book this hotel again, only thing going for it is destination.

Hotel has a big pool, yet it is only open from 11am to 5pm, some days not open at all. Also a lack of ammenties in the room, poor by 4 star standards. Also must have terrible plumbing as it sounds like a hammer drill is being used through the night. Avoid and go somewhere else

Came here in July on my own through a package holiday for a week. Excellent location. 10 mins max to the centre of Mijas. Came here half board. Breakfast was great. Dinner not the best but always found something to eat. Excellent staff especially the waiting staff. I was always seated by the window. Drinks reasonably priced. The outside area if you could get a seat was great. Room very clean. Would recommend paying extra for a full balcony as the Juliet balcony only fitted a chair. Plenty of sunbeds. Staff work very hard. Would highly recommend.

4/2026 Just back from a week in the sun, and enjoyable stay at the TRH. Built on the hillside just off-centre of the charming little town. Hotel is spacious with many lounge areas with comfortable seating and calmness. Staff are ALL very happy and hard working especially in the restaurant where the catering is consistent with a good 4-star hotel, featuring various appetising and changing dishes. Pool and terrace areas are spacious and have plenty of loungers and chairs, with numerous choices between peaceful areas and those with a gentle hubbub. Bar prices are reasonable. At least four elevators in the main wing. Rooms have excellent sound insulation, and those facing the coast are supremely peaceful - just birdsong. Genuinely 10minute stroll mostly on the level, to reach the town centre and host of quirky restaurants, and panoramic viewpoints to the coast. The town had no litter, peeling paint, or brash chain 'restaurants' or the usual coffee 'names'.
Our experience was that this hotel is well run, well designed, calm and comfortable but the staff are the stars of the show. We wouldn't hesitate to return, if in the area.

During my visit to this hotel, I had some observations from my previous stay. It seems the management has addressed the cleanliness issue, as I found the hotel to be very clean. The breakfast was also good, and the hotel's location is excellent. Our room was on the third floor, and the view from the balcony was wonderful. Please note that tea or coffee is not available in the room as the hotel charges for this . Regarding parking, unfortunately, the hotel charges five euros per day. I think this price is a bit excessive. It would be preferable if the price were one euro per day for hotel guests, as it's unreasonable to pay five euros per day for a two-week stay. I hope the hotel management will consider this request. I highly recommend staying at this hotel due to its location and the excellent service provided by the staff.

Just returned from a week at the TRH in Mijas, this Hotel is in a great location for visiting Mijas, bit of a climb up the bank to the road (there are steps if not wanting to go up road). Rooms in need of a bit of Renovation (lick of paint wouldn't go amiss to tidy a little)Staff Great helpful & Friendly, Breakfast only stay & was very good, Chefs Omelette s lovely, plenty of choice for all. Would definitely return, just like to say Thank You to Reception staff for all their Help on the 8th May, they will know what we mean, thanks again Sue & Chris.

Stayed here for a 4 day break. Hotel located in lovely village of Mijas. The rooms are very tired and dated albiet reasonably clean. The reception and dining room were lovely and the breakfast very good. Staff very pleasant.
Its a shame this hotel is not being maintained to the standard of its 4 star rating. Furniture in the bar lounge and public areas were suffering from stains and some of the leather look tub chairs were ripped and split. Water was pouring in from the roof in the conservatory. Paint in rooms were chipped and the furniture needed painting. The balcony was black with algae and the patio door leading onto it was drought and the handle was loose.
The bathroom was really dated with the over bath shower and taps pitted and the screen had no seal. The loo roll holder was loose too.
Beds were comfortable and the bedding immaculate. The house keeping staff really work hard to keep things as good as possible.
There is an excellent bus service from Mijas to nearby towns of furengarola and benalmadena.
Mijas has lots of interesting characteristics such as a beautiful church and lots of quaint places serving great quality food.
We wouldn't return to this hotel but the location is stunning.
