The best part of this resort was the staff. They were genuinely kind, upbeat, and excellent at their jobs. We loved interacting with the entertainment staff; Mariana, Alexis, and Brandon did a great job with all of the activities and made things fun! The food was very good at all of the restaurants, no complaints there. The pool staff were kind and attentive as well. Ricky and Armando were excellent concierges as well. Again, the staff was excellent here. I took off a star for the rooms because the air was stagnant at times and would have liked them to be cooler (same with the restaurants).. Originally we were in the honeymoon suite, which was nice, but the air was not working and the view was of the garden and a wall to another resort, so it was not what we were looking for in a room. The staff was accommodating and we were able to upgrade and move the following day. We ended up staying in the presidential suite with an ocean and pool view and the room and service was excellent for that room and location. The room was gorgeous and was extremely clean as well. This resort was smaller, but personal. It depends on what you are looking for in a resort. My review is based on our specific room and our interactions with the staff, which were all wonderful. We will miss the staff for sure!

Mariana was absolutely outstanding during our stay at Royal Hideaway. From the moment we arrived, she went above and beyond to make every event feel thoughtful, seamless, and genuinely special. As part of the event staff, she handled everything with incredible attention to detail—whether it was coordinating logistics behind the scenes or personally checking in to make sure guests were comfortable and having a great time. Her energy is warm, professional, and effortlessly organized. She anticipated needs before we even had to ask and somehow made even the smallest details feel elevated. Karaoke night was a highlight of our trip, and that was entirely thanks to Mariana. She brought contagious enthusiasm, kept the crowd engaged, encouraged even the shyest guests to participate, and somehow made the whole night feel like a private party. The vibe was fun, inclusive, and perfectly run—no awkward downtime, just nonstop laughs and great energy. Royal Hideaway is fortunate to have her—she is a true asset to the team and one of the main reasons our experience was so memorable.

Our stay at the hotel was overall a very enjoyable and relaxing experience. Firstly we would like to thank our concierge Armando, he was fantastic, very informative and was incredible helping with all our questions and requests. Despite being off work for the second week of our holiday, he ensured we were all set up and had everything arranged before he went away - he was SUPERB. Probably our biggest and most lasting memory of the Royal Hideaway will be the Entertainment team (Adriana, Alexa, Mariana, Brandon, Raul and Henry). All of you are amazing at what you do, always smiling and having an upbeat energy everyday of our holiday. They created a fun welcoming atmosphere and by the end they felt like friends, not just staff. A very minor complaint from us would be the hotels pool policy, there seems to be a members club that can reserve their loungers which was not clear on booking for us. It is perfectly fine some days but we found other days 90% of the loungers had been reserved and the reservers were not using them even by mid-morning. (Again shout out to our concierge and the pool team for keeping on top of this and trying to make it fair for everyone, however had this been more clear on booking we may have chosen an alternative resort). Overall thank you for making our time special, I'm sure it wont be the last.

We just spent a phenomenal week at Royal Hideaway Playacar, and it completely won us over. While the grounds are impeccably kept and the location is absolute paradise, it was the incredible staff that truly elevated our vacation. We actually witnessed some incredibly entitled guests treating the team poorly, yet the staff handled it with absolute grace, professionalism, and a genuine smile. That speaks volumes about the caliber of people working here. The atmosphere was fantastic, especially the intimate vibe of the restaurants. Instead of massive, noisy dining halls, the smaller venues made every meal feel special and exclusive. The food itself was consistently outstanding (though we unfortunately missed out on Spices due to an HVAC repair). The bartenders were wonderfully generous with their pours, and Mariana was an absolute standout—her kayak tour was incredibly relaxing and refreshing! I don’t typically do all-inclusive resorts, but after hearing other well-traveled patrons rave that Royal Hideaway is hands-down the best in the area, I can safely say we will absolutely be back.

Royal Hideaway is a beautiful place! It is the perfect combination of fun and calm. The staff is extremely friendly and take special care of all the guests. Some of my favorite activities have been the morning yoga, the aqua gym daily, and the fun trivia that they bring to the table. Shout out to Brandon, Mariana, Raul, and the rest of the activity staff for keeping me and my wife smiling daily. Great place to relax, have fun, and enjoy Playacar. 5 Stars across the board!
