Just got back from the most incredible week at the Altamar Hotel in Gran Canaria, and I honestly can’t recommend it enough! ☀️🌴 It was our first time staying there, and from the moment we arrived, everything exceeded our expectations. The hotel is spotless, the views are absolutely stunning, and every single member of staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. We love going away as a family, and finding somewhere that ticks all the boxes isn’t always easy but Altamar completely nailed it. Whether it was relaxing by the pool, enjoying the entertainment, or just soaking up the views from our balcony, every moment felt perfect. The food and service in the restaurant were amazing too!such a good variety and so well looked after. It’s in a brilliant location, surrounded by lots of lovely things to do and the beaches aren’t far either, which was a big bonus! It’s safe to say this definitely won’t be our last visit!!! We’ve already decided this will be our go to hotel every year for our family holidays. If you’re thinking of visiting Gran Canaria, I genuinely couldn’t recommend Altamar enough. Just had one week here, all inclusive. The hotel is beautiful and clean, the views amazing over the bay. All the hotels in this area are on steep hills so even though there are lifts you will find yourself walking up steep stairs.The staff were very welcoming and friendly. Our rooms were lovely and spacious. The meals were all Hot and Cold buffet style meals. We found there was plenty to choose from and it was excellent. There were 2 pools and plenty of sunbeds. There was a well stocked shop in the Reception, massage chairs and a Hairdresser and Beauty Salon. You could book the trips in the hotel foyer, taxis were available outside the door. There was entertainment each evening, however it was a reasonably quiet hotel and this suited me very well.

Great holiday, fantastic staff, and room service. Entertainment in the evening was as expected for a 3* hotel. Hats off to the chefs. The food has been exceptional 100%, the best all-inclusive food we've ever had, with on the balcony BBQ experience as well. Would definitely return. If you are hard of walking, would not recommend it as even though there is a lift, it was temporarily out of order at times. Good access to taxis to get around, €5-€20 depending on which beach or shopping centre you wanted to visit. Overall, we've had a great holiday.

It's a good hotel. I got the all-inclusive package, and the staff are awesome, super respectful and helpful. The food was good, had a goof variety of food. My only problem was the showers, all the water spills out and gets the toilet floor all wet, and there's no mop, so it's a mess. I didn't enjoy the swimming pool. I saw two guests (a couple) spitting and blowing their nose in the water. I had to get out. Also, people enter the water without showering first. I would suggest that someone checks that people have showered before getting into the water.

To start off, the location of the hotel is perfect for an ocean view & beautiful sunsets & the restaurant in our hotel does have lots of fun events like karaoke & kids club. There is also a mini SPAR store in case you need to buy anything & free parking. However, in terms of our room service, when we arrived to our room there was a razor left from the previous guest & soap which I find quite disgusting. Then, when we did get room service, the person who cleaned our room left a cloth full of dirt in our sink which we then had to throw away. The first night, as a family of 4 we all needed to take a shower, and we expect warm water. Out of us 4, only one got warm water because the boiler is VERY small capacity. Meaning, to have a warm shower, it would be around 3-4 minutes. after that the water just turns completely cold. A few days later, we bought food & some sweet snacks which we left on our table, completely sealed. The next day in the morning there were little bugs & red ants crawling all over the table, food, floor & BEDS. I have Insane bug phobia & cannot handle even tiny bugs so therefore this was SO disappointing. To add, the beds in the bedroom feel cheap & the pillows are not comfortable at all, therefore if you are booking this hotel, bring your own!!! Also, we had to ask for duvet covers because they did not have them when we first got here. Additionally, each time they clean our rooms we are left with no towels. Just very small ones made to clean our face. We even left our towels outside to dry but they took them too. There are lots of ants crawling at the front of our room door & LOTS of cockroaches, and because of my fear I cannot even sit on the chairs or relax. I wasn’t expecting a 5 star hotel but this is just super disappointing. I can tell that they have focused on how the hotel looks on the outside in terms of the restaurant, pools & sun chairs but the room service & inside? ❌

Fantastic holiday, and a great hotel. 1st off, the view is incredible! The staff are lovely, all really friendly. Rooms are basic, but have everything you need, kept clean, and the beds are comfy. I did worry about not having AC, but it was cool enough in the evenings, and comfortable to sleep. Brilliant breakfast, lovely food, super clean and really friendly. Nothing negative to say! All round brilliant holiday.

5 Stars – A Wonderful Family Holiday! We had an amazing stay at Colina Mar in Puerto Rico, Gran Canaria, and we truly couldn’t be happier with our experience. We stayed as a family with our two children (aged 7 and 3), and from the moment we arrived, we felt incredibly welcome. The entire staff was friendly and kind, especially the lovely lady at reception from the Netherlands—she went out of her way to make sure we felt comfortable and at home. Every member of the team—from the cleaners and bar staff to the pool cleaners and entertainment crew—was warm, cheerful, and genuinely caring. It felt like we had known them forever, and they made our holiday feel like more than just a getaway—it felt like visiting friends. The rooms were clean and well-kept, and the entire area, including the pools and surroundings, was spotless and well-maintained. Great views. The food is ok. Not a huge selection but has been ok the vast majority of the time. The restaurant is on the small side for the number of guests at times. The biggest issue is the lack of rule enforcement. There are never any sun loungers as no towels are removed like is suggested in the rules. People smoke everywhere. You can’t sit down without breathing in smoke. It’s been a while since we’ve been to a place like that!! The rooms are a good size and we’re happy. No aircon but we were given two fans. The walk to the beach is steep downhill and the walk back up would be a struggle to many. The taxi is 5€ back to the hotel from the beach.

If u want to get 5000 steps in before you get to your room this is for you.. no air-conditioning in rooms... only food inclusive in at meal times.. no snacks or ice-cream during day for kids included. Better off going self catering as so many places to get food over the road and very cheap.. food was basically the same everyday. It was nice but more variety would of been better.. snack food at 16.30 is non existent unless u are there bang on half 4.as the small ammount they do put out is bashed off in 5mins.. cleaning maids are brilliant though. Staff are decent too. Pool areas are crammed and overcrowded and not the best imo. If ur towls ain't on longers at 6am u won't get 1.. you are 100% better off going to the 2 main beaches. Really good. Cheap taxi down is best unless u want to climb down lots of stairs and steps to get there.. views are nice from rooms basically as you are right at the top of a cliff.. transfers to airport are much better if you download the welcome pick ups app as much cheaper than local taxis to airport.. 75 euros rather than the 120 euros the local firms are charging... enjoyed our stay but very basic. Defo a 2 maybe 3 star complex. IMO lanzarote is a much better island. Would definitely not come to this complex again. Once again the staff are amazing and deserve some recognition.. good luck with the steps...

We were here for 1 week during the Easter school holidays. We arrived with an open mind because the holiday was very cheap. We opted for the all inclusive because it was good value for the extra money, and as such, if the food wasn't great, we'd have some meals out as well. The food was excellent. Lots of choice and of good quality. We ate in the hotel for the duration of our stay. We also bought a bottle of gin on the flight over, as in previous budget holidays, the'local' spirits have been appalling. Again there was no cause for concern. The beer was pleasant and the spirits were of decent quality( at least the ones we tried). This is a large complex on many levels with many many steps. There are plenty of lifts for those who struggle or don't want to take the stairs. There are 2 pools. We only used the quiet smaller pool on the lowest level. The main pool was far too busy for us. We never had issues getting sun loungers and the guy who ran the small bar there was great. In fact all of the staff were. The views from the complex are stunning. Every room has a sea view. The hotel is on the top of the hill overlooking the town. The walk down is either a downhill winding road, or you can opt for the 709 steps down. We did this twice. The first time we walked back up the same way. The second time we got a taxi up which was just 6 euros from the taxi rank by the harbour. All in all it was a great week, and we would definitely stay here again

Cleaners clearly stole my money as it was there before I left the room on the morning and when I came back after it was cleaned it was gone. Confronted the reception staff, they said cleaners really good and that is it. This is why I hate this country it always happens here can't be trusted

Lovely hotel , friendly staff, great pool area. There is no air conditioning which we had to buy our own fan. Fantastic view from balcony. There was no hairdryer . Overall i still loved it here

Our second time staying at Babalu and must say it wasn't as good as the first time we stayed. Rooms are adequate enough but very tired looking. Bed and bedding was uncomfortable, pillows just felt like a pillow case stuffed with socks! No pool bar anymore so no snacks and drinks available. Plenty of music provided by other guests regardless of whether you wanted to hear it or not, we especially liked the drunk shouting along to songs provided by guests on a higher level and the 2 am door slamming and chair sliding provided by guests below us. But that's holiday budget hotels for you! Staff were lovely here very friendly and helpful and the domestic staff keep the rooms clean with fresh towels each day and beds made daily. Pool area is spotless and pools lovely. They don't open till about 10.30 most days but do stay open till gone 7. All in all we did enjoy out stay here I just think I'm getting less tolerant of other people's noise and lack of sleep in my old age!! 😆😆

Very Lovely Staff and a very lovely place prices are excellent for a somewhat cheap getaway only problem is the very steep hill up if you go down to the beach to eat (if you also drink you would probably require a taxi up the hill which costs around €8-€20 depending on how busy it is.

The rooms are spacious and very clean. The staff is also super friendly and helpful. The beach is also in walking distance, but you probably want a rental car to go to proper supermarkets and restaurants.

Overall giving a high rating. Super good and smiling staff. Special mention to ladies from the pool bar and Michelle from reception desk. They were really lovely. While the hotel provides all amenities I would recommend a few changes/touches to enhance it. I.e. more plants around the pool and on the balconies. It feels a bit empty and boring. A bit of play with wood, colors, plants, some art on the walls and it could get really great look and vibe of a cosy boutique hotel.

Fairly small Holiday Club (Finnish owned) resort in Amadores (near Porto Rico) on Gran Canaria. Like many resorts in this area it is up a hill and really does need a car to get the most out of your holiday. This seems to be the poor sister resort as it does not have a 24 hour reception. We had to call someone from another resort to check us in. The facilities are okay, well stocked kitchen and laundry facilities. Pool is heated - very nice and welcoming. We did not have a spa on our balcony although it seems half the rooms do. Balcony is fine, 2 sunbeds and a table with 4 chairs. View of the sea is limited. Gym and Sauna seems to close at 19:00hrs (which seems a bit early to me) and bizarrely enough for a Finnish company there is a sign on the sauna saying appropriate swimwear must be worn - No Fin would ever say it was appropriate to wear swim wear in a sauna! There is fairly basic shop on site too with a pool snack bar which is very reasonably priced. There is also a courtesy bus to take you to the very busy Amadores beach a couple of times in the morning and afternoon. So it's OK, pretty good even, with a certain charm in its small size but let down by being a bit basic, a poor relation in the resort chain, in need of a bit of freshening up.

This hotel was amazing and definitely value for money! The views were stunning from our balcony and the room was well-equipped and always cleaned! The staff are very helpful and kind too. Loved that we could use the gym next door free of charge! The only thing that was a negative was our noisy neighbours as we could hear a lot but it did not bother us that much!

The receptionist was exceptionally kind and provided valuable assistance. In general, the staff members are quite commendable. The view from our room on the eighth floor was truly magnificent. The swimming pool proved to be a delightful amenity, particularly on a warm day. However, there were a few aspects of these apartments that could be improved. This was the first instance where I encountered a situation where an additional charge of 5€ per night was required to utilize the air conditioning in the room - a detail one discovers upon realizing the AC remote is nowhere to be found. And it is needed, as it can get quite warm inside. The television remote's battery was running low, the refrigerator exhibited some discoloration from age, and the balcony light ceased functioning on the second day of our stay. Despite these minor inconveniences, it still offers good value for the price.

Stayed here for the third year from June 5th-11th and we will probably be booking again for next June too. Apartments are well kept, bedding&towels are all very clean, massive balcony with sun all afternoon till going down, staff are all lovely especially the lady on reception with long dark hair and glasses, she booked us in and was there the morning we went home, she is so lovely. Only minus is no air con but you can pay to have it in your apartment but besides that the Castillo Del Sol is a great priced complex with lovely staff.

Just got back from ten days and from start to finish it was amazing, very chill, rooms SPOTLESS and all the main areas too. Lifeguards brilliant with kids , no mad rush for towels. A special shout out to Fausto who was organising activities all day we don’t have kids but our hearts melted watching how good he was with all of them and spoke many languages too which was amazing. The bar staff (fabrizio, Dante and two other lovely women whose names I have forgotten) couldn’t do enough for you. Honestly come here it’s amazing a wee bit noisy at night but shut the window the hotel has no control over this. Food also lovely and reasonable at pool bar ate here most days.

Not the best experience at the start, no room ready, and no communication. No information given about the hotel, facilties or services. Room pleasant enough, good view and good sized balcony. Small kitchenette. Could do with a full modernisation in the main areas, and the rooms a bit of a tidy up. Was sufficient for a short stay. Central location to the mall area. Noisy at night but ok with the windows shut.

Mixed Experience – Great Day Trips but Disappointing Hotel and Local Area. 7-night holiday over Easter, travelling as a family of four with two children (ages 10 and 13). We recently stayed here and wanted to share some honest reflections to help future visitors: Accommodation and Hotel Car Hire: We hired a car for flexibility, and it turned out to be essential given the location. However, parking information wasn't mentioned at booking, and we were surprised by how difficult parking was on arrival. Clearer guidance around parking and car hire needs would be very helpful for guests. Location: The property is situated at the top of a very steep hill/mountain, which should really be highlighted in the booking information. It's not ideal for those with mobility issues or families with young children without a car. Food: We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis. The food was fine, but healthier options were quite limited. Rooms: The rooms were a good size, clean, and the adult beds were very comfortable. However, the children's beds were uncomfortable, and the sofa bed we pulled out was very dirty underneath. We also had to request extra sheets, as it got chilly in the evenings. Local Area: We were disappointed by the nearby precinct of shops and bars. We felt quite uncomfortable due to the aggressive tactics from some shop and restaurant owners, and there was a visible presence of groups of young men at corners, which didn't feel safe — particularly with small children. As a result, we used the car most evenings to visit more family-friendly, upmarket areas in nearby towns. Cleanliness: Litter and unpleasant smells were a real issue in the surrounding area, with dog mess unfortunately quite common on pavements. Hotel Sunbeds: The hotel pool area was frustrating — by 9am, all sunbeds were already reserved with towels, making it very difficult to find anywhere to sit unless you were up extremely early. It would be good if the hotel enforced a fairer system. Pool Area: There’s no real view from the pool; most sunbeds faced a large white wall and a visible air-conditioning unit. No inflatables are allowed in the pool. Facilities: The pool table was broken during our stay, which was disappointing for our boys — money kept getting stuck, and several balls were missing. Service: Reception staff were polite but casual. We enquired about upgrading from B&B to all-inclusive, as we didn’t feel comfortable eating locally, but staff were unhelpful. They took our room number and promised to follow up, but never did. Smoking: One of our biggest issues was the amount of smoking — it was unavoidable across the hotel grounds. As non-smokers, it really impacted our experience. We couldn’t leave our patio doors open due to guests in neighbouring apartments chain-smoking for hours, which also meant we couldn't dry towels or clothes outside without them picking up the smell. Supermarket: Attached to the hotel and open until 10pm. Had excellent variety and reasonably priced.

Lovely apartment with everything you need with a large terrace area with table and chairs and sunloungers. Staff where friendly and very accommodating and where extremely helpful with a party member who had an allergy. Nothing was too much for them. The animation team provided plenty of activities all day everyday and the entertainment booked for the evenings where all fun too watch. Great pool and a good place to relax on holiday.

Nice holiday, peaceful area, was up a long hill, but we didn't mind that. Clean rooms, friendly staff, entertainment staff were really good, 3 complementary buses a day down to the beach, clean rooms, enjoyed the food, lots to choose from, suitable for vegetarians. Swim up rooms available.

This is the 2nd time we have been here and everything is excellent as always. The food has been a bit samey this time round though. 2yrs ago they did themed evenings. Staff are friendly and rooms/apartments are well kept. Location wise the views are incredible but it is a tad out of the way from the main area. Can easily get a taxi though and this time round they had a bus to and from the beach. There is a shop next to the entrance and there is also a small shopping centre round the back of the hotel.

I went for 2 weeks and when I first arrived at the reception the receptionist was on his phone for about 5/10 minutes talking to someone ignoring us at check in so initially that was very rude and unprofessional, we got given a room that was on the first floor, in the booking I have a 1 year old child so is it not common sense to not put a single mum with a buggy up very very narrow stairs with no lift? Clearly not. When getting to the room it had ants everywhere all over the counter inside and outside, its 20€ a week for a safe which is literally ridiculous but I understand why they make you pay because there staff are dishonest thieves , and then it’s a further 15/17€ A DAY for a fan also absolutely absurd, the fan in the bedroom wasn’t working someone had to come do that which should be checked before arrival, food was good very repetitive and things like pasta where not nice at all, pool was fine, nothing special, enough sunbeds, the person in the shop told me to put proper shoes on if I’m going to go in the shop again? Rude and none of the shop workers seemed to like tourists so not sure why they work in the shop that’s got mostly tourists. There was cockroaches around the place, europa is genuinely so so bad, there’s about 20 souvenir shops then a few eating places we went to 2 places for food and it was actually vile both places and then 1 for cocktails which was very nice the people who worked every time we went where lovely and made loads of conversation, most likely will never be returning to Eden it was more than a let down for me personally and all these add ons that your having to pay for wasn’t in the 2k price? Ok. And to finish it off, I left my purse by accident which was 100% my fault but I know I left it there, when I then emailed that said no purse has been handed in and when I said who was working that day there words where “ Please be informed that, unfortunately, as of today our database does not show that “ well, isn’t that a little ironic for them, dishonest hotel, dishonest staff. I had £50 60€ and my drivers license, all I wanted back was my purse and licence but clearly there isn’t honest people in this world where there should be honest and professional working people. Shame on all of you. The location for the hotel is on top of a massive hill you can either walk 20 minutes then pay for a taxi for the other half of the way down or you can walk. 1 of the sides you have about 200 steps and the other side you literally slide down. The highlight was Mogán mall, was beautiful and nice shops, the beaches where very nice you get a free bus but the buses back up jump from 11 to then 5, if your thinking about booking this holiday I personally wouldn’t it was a waste of my money and time where I could have went to a better 1 around Puerto Rico.

We stayed in Holiday Club in April with our three children who love relaxing by the pool. Overall, the room and cleaning were fine, but breakfast had very limited choices, so we only tried it once. The pool experience was by far the worst. Despite the pool being nearly empty, we weren’t allowed to use our own properly sized swimming ring for our 6-year-old who cannot swim yet (yellow one in the photo). Instead, we were offered a half-inflated hotel ring (red in the photo), which made supervising our child stressful. The safety rules were unreasonable and ruined our pool time. Additionally, an elderly lady would play aerobics music and encourage everyone to dance after swimming, it was awkward and out of place. Other guests we spoke to felt the same, as they had to stop swingpool games. On a positive note, the staff at reception and the bar were very friendly, especially a lady from Ireland - special hello to her! Coffee was nice, appreciate. We travel often, but this was our worst pool experience. Please see the difference between our yellow pool ring which is safe and their red one... Disappointed.

We love this complex as it is in walking distance to everything and the staff from front of desk to all the staff in Vibe and to the cleaner we love them all. The most friendly and loyal people ever. As for Simon he is so friendly and helpful and his colleague Lorraine they always have the chats with us making our holiday feel like home from home.

We had a wonderful family holiday at Holiday Club Puerto Calma! The hotel is in a great location with absolutely stunning views. Everything was spotless and well-maintained, and the whole place felt very welcoming and relaxing. It was the perfect base for our trip – clean, comfortable, and peaceful. We would definitely come back again. Highly recommended!

This hotel contains of well equipped spacious apartments with a nice view. The apartments are clean and the service is excellent. There is also a pool and restaurant area. The hotel is located up on a hill. There are restaurants and a supermarket close. The beach is only 10 minutes walking but with stairs or down the hill. They have limited parking spots available.

Rooms are beautiful .with everything you need. And the large balcony with sun loungers had the best view ever .over looking the harbour. The staff were all really nice and friendly. Special mention to the staff in the restaurant and bar. Thry done 2 4 1 cocktail special everyday between 4/6 pm. Breakfast was fantastic and great value too. Great location with loads of restaurants across the road and dino supermarket and durty Nellie's Irish bar. ! Nice 1o min walk to harbour then a bot further up you have the great comercial centre which has shops restaurants you name it it's up there !. We will definetly be rebooking this hotel on our next visit to puerto rico 😎😎

It very basic and I would have been very happy with this basic for bed and breakfast if it was clean, but it was not very clean at all. One housekeeper was better than another. But overall not great cockroaches inside the sofa bed hiding until dark. Was sand and bird droppings on our balcony for 14 days straight, housekeeping is every 2 or 3 days sometimes not at all it seems. The breakfast was OK, but very slow at replenishing empty items especially after 9am. The coffee in the restaurant machine was terrible. The bar coffee was decent, the bar was pretty good actually. Most of the staff very friendly.. The pool was very busy with kids so I didn't bother going in, my kids did enjoy it. and spent a lot of time visiting beaches, amadores is a lovley local beach to visit.

Pico the gentleman in charge of carrying out the entertainment at the hotel was brilliant. He was quick to remember all the children’s names and eagerly engaged with them whenever he saw them. The children all loved being around him. He was lively and had a great personality which added a lot to the holiday. The kids talk very fondly of him. There was a wide range of activities throughout the day and evening. The children loved the mat challenge in the pool, aqua aerobics, archery, karaoke and bingo. There was also a great selection of shows spread out through the week. We particularly enjoyed the circus show. The bar staff were super friendly and were quick to build a rapport with you. The life guards were mostly fantastic and friendly but there were two lifeguards who were slightly less kind and enjoyed blowing the whistle at the children for minor and non dangerous issues such as jumping safety into the deep end and lilo sliding into the pool. One told my children off for playing a game of ‘how long can you hold your breath’ even when doing this with an adult. They tried to tell children to get out the pool but when confronted and told no they called management. However, we did find the hotel management great at dealing with this and getting them to calm down and allow the children to have fun. The life guards are hired from an external company but they usually have the same ones return. There is a massage parlour and small shop on site. The snack bar menu was excellent value for money and there was a wide range of food to choose from. The restaurant on site has a great breakfast to offer. They have a set menu for the evening buffet which we didn’t use as we felt there wasn’t as much choose as the snack bar and for us with 5 kids it worked out much better. The hotel location was excellent with only a 10 minute walk to an amazing shopping centre with top brand shops. You just need to walk to the second shopping centre a bit further. In the first shopping centre, there is a variety of restaurants to choose from as well as shops to browse. The sandy beach is only a 10 minute walk away as well with rentable sun-beds and bars on the beach. The bus stop is just down the end of the road where you can hop on and ride to the local attractions. The taxis are easy to use and readily available around the town. We had a brilliant holiday - great hotel, great staff and great location.

We have just spent a great 2 weeks at Revoli. Getting sunbeds was much better than previous years with the staff removing any towels from sunbeds before 9am if they weren’t occupied. Pico was the entertainer for the hotel and did loads of activities including water polo, archery and darts..he does a great job in keeping everyone entertained and my 2 boys loved all of the activities with him!

All the staff were great from the guys on reception to the girls that serviced the room. I’d highly recommend this hotel. Pico the entertainer is absolutely amazing

We have just returned from a 10 day stay here and it was amazing. The food was excellant with so much choice for adults and children. The room was well maintained with a stunning view. The pool area was kept clean and the daily activities were fun. The drink choice and availability was good. We had the AI+ that provided a wide range of enjoyable cocktails. The hotel has 2 big negatives! The sun loungers were all taken before 6am. People were allowed to put towels on them at anytime. There were people putting them down at midnight. Apparently they don't enforce it because a guest pulled a knife out to attack the hotel staff when they took the towels off a few years ago. We were lucky as we had a swim up room. The sun was blocked there until the afternoon though. The other negative was that if you didn't find somewhere to sit early on in the evening you'd be literally standing up all evening as there wasn't enough tables available for everyone. My son and I had to sit literally outside the main entrance of the hotel one evening as there wasn't any other seats available in the entire hotel. Food and drink were good. Staff were friendly.

Don’t let anyone put you off with negative reviews regarding this hotel. The place is immaculate.Our room was cleaned everyday.(special thanks to Mary in block 7 who was lovely).The whole of the hotel was cleaned everyday. There was something to eat for everyone. The restaurant tables were spotless. Staff would do anything for you. We didn’t have kids with us but they would love it. Fantastic hotel. No problems with sun beds as long as you were at pool before lunch. Would definitely go back.

Very impressive resort with spectacular views across Puerto Rico town. It's a very large hotel and we went during August when it was very busy but there are a lot of different areas so you can alternate between the crazy parts and the more relaxing ones. It's also a good base for excursions to nearby beaches and towns. We had a room at the top of a block behind the infinity pool which was quiet and very handy to go back and forth from. I think if you were further away it's more of a maze of stairs and lifts so we were lucky! The junior suite is big and having a seperate room for the adults was ideal. Lovely balcony but it was constantly in the sun, would be perfect if some shade was provided. Room was well cleaned daily. Yes, sunbeds are an issue and I overheard someone saying they got up at 5am. It's mostly large groups trying to get all the rows closest to the main pool. I'd say around half 7 - 8am you might get something near the main pool but after that the infinity pool area and the terrace with the splash pools would have free beds. We ended up going for the inifinity pool area anyway because there was more space and you weren't as close to the booming speakers! The main pools are great but obviously can get busy during the middle of the day. The waterslides are fun for a few goes and never seemed to have much of a queue. People have said about these areas being slippy and there are plenty of warning cones around but we didn't see any issues, just walk and wear something on your feet. There are two adult only areas which seemed undiscovered and very quiet... one at the top of the hotel and another past the infinity pool down the hill which has it's own bar. I'd recommend parents tag team it between the family areas and those adult ones for the odd break, very peaceful. Food is superb with plenty of choice, lots of meat and fish, great salad bar, ice cream, sushi, bread and pastries, the kids were very happy. Again, it can get busy but we never had problems getting a table and there are some outside areas either end of the buffet hall which provide great views. The snack bar is also great, providing more burgers, pizza, pasta and ice cream during the afternoon. There are drinks machines around the pools and some beer taps so a cold drink was always nearby. They do pre-mixed cocktails with lots of crushed ice so they're refreshing but not very strong. If you're more into cocktails there is an all-inclusive plus option that provides better drinks with proper shots. Entertainent is top-notch. The animation team kick things off about 11am around the pool with things like Aquagym, water polo and lots of games throughout the day. The evening has a kids disco about 7pm then live performances and shows until about 10:15pm. We saw very good acrobats and the musicals showcase was a highlight. The animation team are talented and very commited. Shout-out to Jesus and Isabela who were very friendly but the whole team are fantastic. One issue is it can be difficult to get a table for the evening to watch the show. Large groups get in early and put several tables together and there's not a lot of space anyway. If you go there about 8pm I'd say you should still be able to get something. Minor thing... they have a couple of arcade areas but these aren't great. Games are cheap (1 Euro) but they're all very old and broken. They could do with a refresh here as apart from the entertainment there's not a lot to do in the evenings. You can walk down to the beach - 700 steps! - and get a taxi back. Puerto Rico beach is nice although on the other side of the hill is Amadores which is much better and has an inflatable water park. The hotel do a free transfer there but taxis are cheap. Also recommend the Mogan Mall up the road and a boat trip to Mogan, not a great beach but it is a very pretty town and has more water activities. Hotel staff are great, they also offer airport transfers at a good price plus when checking out make sure to reserve a shower room to refresh before leaving.

We stayed here for two weeks with our 18-month-old son, and unfortunately, this was the worst all-inclusive experience we’ve ever had – and we’ve travelled quite a lot. Food The food was extremely poor quality. It was nearly impossible to put together a proper meal for our toddler or ourselves. The main options were deep-fat-fried chicken loaded with salt, undercooked eggs, and salmon that didn’t feel safe to eat. Each night was essentially the same food with maybe one or two small changes. Vegetables were almost non-existent – the only options were overcooked broccoli or some green beans on occasion. Most people, including us, resorted to eating fruit and chocolate, which says a lot. Children were mostly eating plain bread as there were no appealing or appropriate options for them. Cleanliness & Facilities We rarely found clean tables in the dining area and constantly had to wait just to sit down. Around the pool, the floor was very slippery – not ideal for children – and we didn’t see any lifeguards. Sun loungers were very limited. Entertainment The entertainment was really lacking for families. The only kid-focused activity was a 45-minute mini disco, which happened to start right at dinner time – so we never got to attend. After that, it was bingo and singers every night. Most of the children just ended up gathering around the arcades or play areas out of boredom. Room Our room and balcony were clean but very basic. The air conditioning wasn’t cold and turned off every time we left the room. There was no bath, which is difficult when travelling with a toddler. The shower was extremely slippery, and no rubber mat was provided – something other hotels usually offer for families. We asked and were told to just use a towel on the floor, which is both unsafe and wasteful. Safety Concerns One of the most frightening parts of our stay was the lift. It broke down multiple times while we were inside – including once where we were stuck in pitch black with our child before it randomly restarted. After that, we dreaded using it, but with a stroller and no other option, we had no choice. Final Thoughts This hotel is simply not suitable for young families. Based on our experience, it seems more geared toward adults. We were shocked by how it gets so many “family-friendly” reviews. We would not return and cannot recommend it for those travelling with young children.

We had a brilliant 2 week break here. Staff and food were fantastic! Rooms are spacious, we had a large terrace to sunbathe on. Pool area is nice and plenty of sunbeds. A special mention to Sarah the entertainment girl who was brilliant with the kids, Federick (Richard Gere lookalike) an attentive waiter, Alona the waitress and her husband the chef and also Pablo the waiter. All very friendly and hard working. A quiet location but that's what we wanted. Handy to get everywhere either by bus or taxi.

I had an amazing week here with my girlfriend and 7 year old daughter. The rooms food and staff were amazing. Especially the lady running the entertainment for kids all day the adults in the evening. Beautiful view. 5 min steep walk to a stunning beach (taxi back up because of child). Bbq night Wed's n Saturdays, great beer in tap. 5 min drive to Puerto Rico shops and bars. Id love to go back here. The best holiday I've ever had.

If you're looking for a peaceful getaway in Gran Canaria, tucked away above the stunning Amadores Beach. The hotel sits high up on the hillside overlooking Amadores Beach, offering spectacular views of the ocean. Getting down to the beach is a pleasant walk — all downhill — but be warned: the walk back up is a workout. Luckily, taxis are easy to get and cost around €5, which became our go-to option after a few days. Because of the hotel's slightly remote location, you'll also need a taxi if you're heading into Puerto Rico or exploring other nearby spots. But the good news? Taxis are cheap and quick, so it’s not much of a hassle. The hotel itself is clean and well-maintained, though a little dated in places. That said, the rooms are cleaned regularly, fresh towels are provided often, and the beds are super comfortable — which honestly matters most when you're trying to relax. One of the biggest highlights for us was the food. The all-inclusive meals were consistently tasty, and there was always something to look forward to at each sitting. The drinks are all self-service, including the alcohol, which actually works really well and keeps things relaxed. The staff were another standout. Everyone we encountered was friendly, hardworking, and always up for a chat. You can tell they care about making your stay a good one. You’ll never have to worry about scrambling for a sunbed — there were always plenty available. The pool itself was a nice temperature and great for cooling off during the day. Entertainment at night is where the hotel could improve a little. It wasn’t the most polished, but the team put in a lot of effort. Sarah, in particular, deserves a shoutout — she was great with both kids and adults, always bringing a bit of energy and fun to the evenings. One thing we did miss was a quiet space in the evenings. It would’ve been lovely to have a designated area with tables and chairs away from the entertainment, just to sit and chill with family or friends under the stars. We also took a trip from Puerto Rico to the charming town of Mogán by boat — highly recommend it if you’re in the area. It’s a scenic ride and Mogán itself is full of character. Overall, this hotel was a wonderful place for a relaxing break in the sun. With comfortable rooms, good food, and a welcoming atmosphere, it’s ideal for those wanting to unwind without the crowds. Just bring your walking shoes — or budget a bit for taxis — and you’re set. We visited in mid-July, and the weather was perfect: sunny, dry, and comfortably in the high 20s. If you're planning a warm-weather escape and don’t mind being a bit off the beaten path, this spot is definitely worth considering.

Absolutely the Best Hotel I’ve Stayed at on the Islands! From the moment I arrived, even though it was a late check-in, I was welcomed with a thoughtful touch — they had prepared sandwiches for me. That small gesture set the tone for the entire stay. The food at the hotel was exceptional, with a wide variety of delicious options to choose from every day. Whether you prefer local cuisine or international dishes, there was something for everyone. The staff were incredibly friendly, always smiling, helpful, and genuinely cared about the guests. The rooms were clean, spacious, and comfortable, and housekeeping came daily to keep everything spotless. The swimming pool was lovely — a great place to relax, with plenty of sunbeds and a calm atmosphere. The beach was just a 10-minute walk away, and although it’s a bit uphill on the way back, it was a pleasant walk. If you don’t feel like walking, a taxi back to the hotel cost only €3.85. Public transport was also very reliable, and it only took about 5 minutes by bus to reach the neighboring town — or you could take a taxi for around €7. To say I was satisfied would be an understatement. This hotel exceeded all my expectations, and I would return in a heartbeat. We have just came home from ten lovely days at Altamadores. The food was delicious as it was last year. I miss real bear glasses but the new plastic cups we think was smart and totally fine. Jamie was super in 2024, but we also think that Sarah did a wounderful job! Especially was she fantastic with our kids ❤️ the entertainment at the evening was most of the days very good. We are definitely comming back ❤️☀️

This hotel is truly a hidden gem! From the moment we arrived, the reception staff were very professional. They informed us that our room wasn't quite ready, so we decided to have lunch in the bar area, where the food was delicious. When we finally checked into our room, it was immaculate. We appreciated the thoughtful touches, such as a bottle of wine and some sweets. The pool was quite spacious and offered a stunning view of the Atlantic Ocean and the bay area. There were plenty of sun loungers available, and reservations were not allowed. The adult-only area was a welcome break from the main pool and was surprisingly tranquil, considering it was next to the pool. Overall, this was an excellent last-minute booking. We are glad we chose this hotel and will recommend it to our friends.

Loved it here. The location is ideal right on the bay, flat area which was great especially with my 2 year old and her pram. The rooms are really big, plenty of space and very comfortable. The cleanliness is the best I've ever seen in a hotel and the staff are all attentive and can't do enough to help. The swimming pool is great, really nice to swim up to the edge of the pool to look out to the bay and the sea. 100% coming back here again

Had a great week at Marina Suites, the only hotel we choose for Puerto Rico. Room was lovely with view of Marina and Sea. Very clean and staff all friendly. It is mostly the same staff from previous visits, so consistent on service. Recommend transfer service via hotel as worked out cheaper than taxi and cars more modern. Pool was a little cold this time, but always managed to get one of the large beds after 9am.. We will be back!

We can't put into words our wonderful vacation. We can only thank the staff at Marina Suites. We stayed at the hotel a few weeks ago and it was a dream. Thank you to Ciara for such an incredible welcome, the restaurant staff for their patience with our child with special needs, and above all, Marina, our housekeeper, for cleaning and anticipating our needs with exquisite English. We will return at the end of the year.
