One of the three resorts making up St Paul's Bay, Qawra is a charming, fairly new coastal resort attracting holiday makers from all over Europe. Slightly quieter than it neighbouring counterpart Bugibba, the two merge and blend seamlessly to provide a whole host of bars and pubs, restaurants and cafes . If night-time discos and clubs are what you're after then Paceville in St Julians will cater to your needs, as visitors to Qawra are in search of the quieter, more relaxing and traditional village resort for their break.
Qawra enjoys a great location with a beach that offers easy access to the sea and some level parts for sunbathing and relaxing. Sun loungers are available in the resort clubs and diving schools and water sports are a great attraction for many in all of St Paul's Bay resorts.
There is a sense of the high life in Qawra with luxury hotels and a laid-back atmosphere for visitors wishing to soak-up this quaint and pretty resort. A tree-lined promenade leads you to many narrow streets and Bugibba, and offers gorgeous views of St Paul's Bay and the many colourful fishing boats, jet-skiers and so on.
The nature of Qawra promotes doing as little as possible in order to fully relax but there are options for sightseeing and entertainment. Qawra Point is the highlight of the resort; a historical fortress and which has now been converted into a swimming pool and restaurant, but the structure itself is imposing and creates a lovely backdrop for evening walks along the promenade with colourful lights from open-air venues reflecting on the water. Head to one of the cafes and restaurants for plentiful English, Med and local cuisine. Along the promenade and Bugibba provides more night entertainment with clubs and discos, bars and the like.
Shopping for holiday mementos can be had in St Paul's Bay but an easy bus ride to Valletta and the shopping really begins. Mdina, the former capital of Malta is also about half an hour away by road and offers the medieval history that Malta is known for.
By bus, car, on foot or by bicycle, Qawra and its surrounding can be explored. The shores and neighbouring islands are discovered by one of many numerous boat trips and of course, for families with young children, there are a number of hotels offering kid-friendly parks, play areas and activities.
