The hotel is on a steep clifftop site so lots of steps. Sea views are magnificent, the staff are courteous and helpful and the food in the restaurant is varied and good quality. However, the buildings are tired and in need of modernisation and improvement.

The large Fred Olsen owned Hote Jardin Tecina at Playa Santiago is a well established property set in attractive sub-tropical gardens and grounds. It sits on the cliffs on the eastern side of the village, with far-reaching panoramic sea views. There is a lift down to sea level and the hotel's own beach club. The interior is designed in traditional Canarian style. The food and service were good and the staff friendly. Popular with golfers. Recommended.

A week on La Gomera and staying in Jardin Tecina is the perfect holiday. Great breakfast buffet, amazing sea sounds and views, 15min walk from the town with restaurants if you are B&B. Good facilities, and nice to have less tourists than Tenerife. Make sure to try the canarian potatoes and the mojo rojo sauce! Best parts was going on a guided coach tour around the island, appreciating the breathtaking wild nature. Eating at Tasca Enyesca, a restaurant in the local town. And best of all was going on the Hotel arranged excursions with guide Jurgen (you book via the app). Jurgen was probably the best tour guide we've ever met, humble, great humour and knowledge led to fascinating tours on local plants, wildlife and even stargazing the clear skies. To note, because of the limited number of ferries from Tenerife south to La Gomera, it can be that you have to wait for flights/boats but it's a small price to pay for the remoteness of the island. Also for those with a fear of heights and thinking of car hire, the mountain roads can have steep edges, but the general road quality is good. Hope to go back again soon!

Island of La Gomera off other major island of Spain. An hourish boat ride from the main island, then taxi to the hotel. All very well organised. A lovely isolated resort, with everything need for a peaceful holiday. A unique holiday experience in a Fred Olson hotel where the family used to live before it was explained and golf course added.

The micro-climate, garden and cliff-top location give it a garden of eden feel. It's easy to unwind here. But it's also weirdly authoritarian, feels like industrial-scale tourism and quite unwelcoming overall.
