Just returned from a four night break at the Gran Sol. Great location, opposite the marina, within walking distance of all the main attractions Alicante has to offer. The C6 bus from the airport stops within a few hundred metres of the hotel. We were on the 21st floor with outstanding views of the Marina and out to sea and being so far up any street noise was minimal. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful and despite comments on other reviews the lifts were absolutely fine. The wide variety of food on offer at breakfast was excellent. The room was fine but it's the first 4 star hotel I've stayed in with no tea or coffee making facilities, but it's no deal breaker. The walls are a bit thin but we had respectful neighbours. The only real disappointment was that my wife and I went up to the bar for a night cap and waited patiently to be spoken to and seated. However after waiting 10 minutes with several staff having passed us by and just ignoring us we gave it up as a bad job. Maybe they were having a bad day, who knows. Overall a good place to stay if you want to be right in the heart of the action.

The location is great, the views from the upper floors are absolutely fabulous. The staff could not be more helpful. The restaurant manager Roberto was really helpful and good fun. The Reception staff Jamie & Carla were really helpful and informative, as previous guests have said lifts were slow and small, however you are on holiday so it’s not a problem. Overall a pleasant stay and good memories

A basic hotel in a great location. Welcome at reception and for breakfast was very good.
The room we had seen better says and could do with being freshend up. Also, why have a balcony if you can't have access to it?
Breakfast - plenty choice and enough variation for all.
Close to the boulevard and also shops and restaurants are in abundance around this area.

Room was spacious and clean. Bed was fine for me but my wife thought it was too hard. One elevator was out of action for much of the stay and that made for difficulties but not too bad. Reception/Check-in staff friendly and helpful. Bar staff less so
Breakfast was included and provided a good range of cooked and cold options.
Good central location but difficult to find and no onsite parking.

We spent a week in the excellent Hotel Alicante Gran Sol, the room was spacious and spotless and was cleaned every day, the location is perfect just off the promenade so it's quiet, but it's also near to the old town, so plenty to see and do. The breakfast is as expected for a buffet, with quite a good selection on offer
