We had a fantastic seven nights here. The staff are really friendly and overall the hotel is excellent. The rooms are well laid out and modern and from top to bottom everywhere is quirky, immaculate and clean.
We didn’t eat there but the white sangria cocktails and frozen daiquiris are worth a go, especially around the pool.
Our only criticism is, you need a science degree to work the air con in the room, the pool is freezing cold, ALWAYS, and the beds are very squeaky to the point we could hear the other couples having a bit of the other 🤷♂️
Hotel Califórnia is worth a stay and we will definitely book there again. 😊

An elite hotel! 🌟
Couldn’t have been happier with our stay over Easter bank holiday weekend!
The hotels location couldn’t be any better, as you exit straight into the middle of the old town strip. You can also get taxis to drop off / pick you up directly outside the front door.
The hotel has a boutique vibe, meaning it’s quiet/relaxed. The room was clean, modern and comfy. Definitely recommend going for the balcony with pool view room.
The only issues we found with the hotel was checking in and out (which took way longer than it should have) and being forced to pay for and wear swimming caps to go into the Spa..
We would definitely stay here again when visiting Albufeira!

This is a hotel right in the centre of Old Town Albufueria so depending on what type of holiday you are looking for, you will either love it or hate it.
We loved it as perfect location for the beach, marine and loads of restaurants.
We went off season so can imagine the old town being very noisy peak season but you would be right on the doorstep for the nightlife.
Room was perfect, comfy bed, nice balcony and powerful shower. The breakfast is AMAZING and could not be faulted with everything cooked fresh. The pool and rooftop bars were closed when we visited but the rooftop area would be perfect in the summer season however is open in closed season for sunbathing.
The team at the hotel were very good and any queries were dealt with but agree with the other reviews the lifts take a bit to master if you’re on the higher floors. We also went for a Spa treat and it is very good value for money and we loved the hydro pool afterwards.
Now for the big question, would we use this hotel in the peak season probably not due to the noise from the nightlife but if this is what you are after it’s a perfect hotel.

Good rooms - got most of the basics you need - would improve maybe with bedside tables and a kettle rather than a Nespresso Machine. It would also be nice for a bit more information provided about things to do and facilities the hotel offers as it has a spa but they don’t have any leaflets or anything advertising so. The outside private space you get with the room during the afternoon stinks of the local pub food so I don’t recommend drying your clothing outside in the sun. I like the hotel offers sustainable choices and vouchers for opting out of room maintenance. Breakfast provided is 10/10 and service is great.
It is right in the heart of Albufeira town so you are on top of all the pubs which are INCREDIBLY noisy at nighttime, the earplugs provided are somewhat helpful but even still you can still hear the nightlife from the pubs. Short walk to beach and restaurants and ideal if you do want to go for the nightlife.
